The Full Story of Snootiful Hound

If you’re in a hurry, you can get an overview of our story on our about us page, otherwise here’s how Snootiful Hound came to be!

Our story begins with probably the scariest moment of my life, with Blondie (my saluki sidekick), running loose on a very busy main road.

I'd better give some context here. Blondie is, or was, a serial escapist, always wriggling out of any harness I put her in. The first few times this happened, it wasn’t too big of an issue. She would zoom around the park until she tired herself out and then I’d take her home for a nap.

Then one day, it became a big problem real fast. She got loose on a main road on the way home from the park and decided this was a good place for zoomies. As you can imagine, the 5 minutes it took to get her back felt like a lifetime. If anything like this has ever happened to you, then you know just how terrifying this can be.

After this I realised I could take no more chances, I couldn’t bear the thought of something happening to her the next time she got loose so I had to put a stop to this immediately and leave no doubts.

Enter the Snootiful Hound harness for sighthounds:

The thing is, traditional harnesses just aren’t designed for a sighthounds body. It makes sense that our sighthounds would need a harness as unique as they are, right? I thought so too and that is when I set out to create the best harness for sighthounds, greyhounds, whippets and lurchers.

Firstly, it had to be escape proof so that I never had to bear the thought of something happening to Blondie again. Even if your sighthound isn’t an escape artist, it’s still better to be safe than sorry! Especially since sighthounds aren’t exactly known for their recall and like to chase things.

As you can see below, the third strap on the harness tucks behind the chest, making it almost impossible to escape

Then my other priority was comfort. We all know how sensitive our sighthounds can be, so I designed it for a sighthounds body with extra padding and made sure there were no parts that could rub or chafe because a happy hound is a Snootiful Hound.

Every feature has been designed with your sighthound in mind. I truly believe that this is the best harness for greyhounds and whippets on the market. You can check it out here.

Our Commitment:

I’m committed to creating products that are as special as your sighthound, and that doesn’t stop at our harness. In fact, I personally guarantee that I will never sell something that I wouldn’t use on Blondie herself – it’s what I call the Blondie test.

I launched with the idea of safety and comfort as my priority, and that is why I began with our sighthound no escape harness, and a small range of leads and martingale collars and I can’t wait to add more products soon at the quality you will come to expect from us here at Snootiful Hound.

But it doesn’t stop once the sale is made. I don’t want Snootiful Hound to ever be a faceless business. If you have any problems, I’m always personally on hand to help and I truly believe in service with a smile. Even if you just want to introduce yourself (and your dog), or want some help or advice, feel free to drop me a line or get in touch on social media, I love hearing from you guys!

Charitable Donations:

It’s important to me to be able to give back. Blondie is a rescue dog and there’s many more just like her that need help, so charity will always be at the core of what we do.

I’ve teamed up with my local greyhound rescue, Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare, to whom I donate 10% of profits on your behalf to help support the wonderful work that they do. You can read more about this here.

Thank you for making this possible!

I’m also always interested in any way that I can do more, so if you represent a charity, you’re more than welcome to get in touch – I’d love to hear from you!
