A double ended lead is exactly that – it is a lead that has a clip on both sides, making it ‘double ended’. Okay, that’s a massive oversimplification as this features gives it so much more functionality than a traditional lead. These double ended dog leads will also feature several rings which can be used as places to attach the hooks, which ultimately allows you to adjust the lead for different use cases. This also makes it a great training lead.
How can a double ended lead be used?
There are many different ways it can be used. In fact, our double ended dog lead can be used in 7 different ways! This kind of versatility is only possible with a double ended lead.
- Short length for extra control on walks or heel training. This is achieved by attaching one end of the lead to the furthest loop away – this will create a handle for you to use whilst shortening the lead.
- Medium length balance between close control and freedom on walks, or for obedience training. This is achieved by attaching one end of the lead to the middle loop.
- Long length for more freedom on walks or recall training. This is achieved by hooking one end of the lead to the closest loop, again to create a handle whilst maximising the length of the leash.
- Attach one end of the lead to your waist for hands free walking or training.
- Walk two dogs with the double clip dog lead, simply clip one end to each dog and use the soft padded lead as your handle.
- Tether your dog under supervision. You can do this by either hooking one end to something that is sturdy enough to hold your dog. Otherwise you can also use the adjustments mentioned above to create a ‘handle’ the right size to slip over an object like a bollard to hold your dog securely.
- Double attachment for complete control on walks with the ability to redirect. This is great for dogs that pull as you can use one end of the lead as a brake with a harness, and you can attach the other end to either a collar or a front clip on a harness if you have one with this functionality, and this end can be used to redirect your dog when they pull.
