Our martingale collars are designed to be incredibly comfortable for your dog whilst making sure they cannot slip out, a common issue with greyhounds, whippets, lurchers and all other sighthound breeds when using other types of collar.

Escape Proof: This martingale collar prevents your dog from slipping out of their collar. The adjustable loop tightens gently when your dog pulls which makes it so that their head can't slip out.

Safe and gentle on your dog: The martingale collar is designed to only tighten by a small amount. Just enough to stop your dog from being able to slip out, but not enough to cause them discomfort or to be a choke hazard. As soon as they stop pulling and there's no risk of escape, it will gently ease tension and return to a loose, comfortable fit.

Soft and comfortable: Made from soft materials so it is gentle on your dog's skin. It features a wide design to distribute the pressure more evenly around the neck which reduces strain and pulling pressure for a safer and more comfortable walk.

30-40cm and 40-50cm collars are 3.8cm / 1.5" wide, and the 25-30cm collar is 2.5cm / 1" wide.

Sizes:

25-30cm Neck - 2.5cm / 1" Width - Recommended for Italian Greyhounds, Whippets, Puppies or Adolescent Dogs.

30-40cm Neck - 3.8cm / 1.5" Width - Recommended for Large Whippets, Greyhounds, Lurchers, Salukis, Galgos.

40-50cm Neck - 3.8cm / 1.5" Width - Recommended for Large Greyhounds, Large Lurchers

How to measure:

You will need a soft measuring tape for this, and you will need to take two measurements of your sighthound.

The first measurement you need to take is the largest part of the head including the ears, so that the collar is able to slip over.

Then you need to measure the middle of the neck, where the collar will sit. You need to pick a size that fits both of these measurements.

You should be able to fit two fingers between the collar and neck.

Please measure your dog to make sure you order the right size. The breed guide is a recommendation only.

Why A Martingale Collar?

A martingale collar is a dog collar designed to be escape proof and prevent escape artists from slipping out or backing out of their collar by gently tightening when they pull, just enough to stop it from being able to slip off, but not enough to cause discomfort or to be a choke hazard.

This is especially good for sighthounds who have a slim head which makes them prone to slipping out of traditional collars. On non-sighthound breeds, the head is usually larger than the neck which acts as a sort of barrier to prevent this, but a determined sighthound is often able to pop right out.

This is especially problematic with sighthound breeds as they are renowned for their prey drive, speed, and can often struggle with recall, so the risks are higher if your sighthound does escape.

In fact, martingale collars are often called whippet collars or greyhound collars because of how well suited they are for sighthound breeds, although they are also suitable for any dog that is prone to slipping their collar.

Beautiful quality sighthound harness, house collar and lead

Best collar we've tried

Our pup was a puller, harnesses made it worse and the halti/gentle leader style irritated his skin horribly, normal collars make him choke and gasp, this is thick enough to support rather than cut in and we have set it so it's impossible to choke him with corrections. He walks like a dream now that we can train without fear he is getting hurt, can't recommend highly enough. I do wish they made bigger sizes though as our dog isn't a sighthound and will eventually outgrow his current (largest size) martingale, a day I am dreading already.
